A newly constructed Gothic tower looms large in the landscape of the Shenandoah Valley in Front Royal, Virginia. Christ the King Chapel, which was dedicated on April 15, was designed and constructed to draw the mind to God and embody Christendom College’s motto “to restore all things in Christ.” The new chapel is located at the highest point of the liberal arts college’s campus.
Timothy O’Donnell, president of Christendom, saw the building of the chapel as a countercultural act. He said, “Christ has been driven out of public discourse, driven out of the consciousness. To have the church that boldly proclaims that Christ is the answer, it is a very countercultural thing, but it’s something that we need desperately.”
